In the heart of the Aegean Sea, Santorini, famous for its mesmerizing sunsets and iconic white-washed buildings, undergoes a remarkable transformation during Easter. The island, already enchanting, takes on an extra layer of magic. As Easter approaches, a unique energy engulfs the island, drawing both locals and visitors into its embrace. For us, fortunate to visit the islands 2-3 times a year due to our work, these occasions have become cherished traditions. They allow us the privilege of celebrating significant events in truly extraordinary places. Santorini's Easter is a time of reflection, faith, and togetherness, blending age-old traditions with the vibrancy of contemporary festivities. Having participated in various island celebrations, including the renowned Tsipouro Walk in Emporeio and the enchanting Lighting Up of Pyrgos, we've had the opportunity to witness the island's cultural richness firsthand. The Tsipouro Walk, a jovial gathering in Emporeio, becomes a delightful experience, where the aroma of traditional Greek spirits mingles with laughter and camaraderie. Equally memorable is the Lighting Up of Pyrgos, where the village illuminates with a warm, golden glow. It's not just a visual spectacle but a heartfelt expression of community spirit. Each candle, carefully placed, symbolizes unity and faith, turning the village into a beacon of light that resonates with the essence of Easter.
These experiences have enriched our understanding of Santorini's heritage, allowing us to be a part of its traditions. The blend of tradition and splendor during Santorini's Easter not only highlights the island's cultural depth but also reinforces the sense of unity among its people and visitors alike. Continuing our adventures to our last spot for this leg of camping before heading home to wash EVERYTHING, is Lousios River. Fun fact: The locals told us this river was where the newborn Zeus was bathed (Louzo=bathing) by the nymphs. August is here again and this time we are heading to the Peloponese Region to the rivers and lakes to escape the summer heat!
So excited! This is our first trip for 2022 and this is in a new island for K to visit, Tinos. We took the boat from Athens, it takes around 4-5 hours to arrive in Tinos. This same boat also goes to Mykonos.
Day 0 It's nice to be able to leave mainland Greece again after a loooong time! We took a boat from Athens, it's a 10-hr ride to Heraklion and 12 to Chania (our destination). While settling on our seats, there was a group of kids from a music school who was also on board and they decided to do a performance for everybody there playing live music and dancing to it too! Day 1 On the way to where we'll be staying, there were sights straight out of a fairytale!
Summer in Greece is just amazing, with all the beaches and amazing view and with temperatures reaching 38°c, everybody is heads to the sea and to to cool off.
This is the perfect time that we head up the mountains where the air is cooler, fresher and there will be less people for sure! For our July camping trip this year, we are heading to a remote place to stay and explore. It also helps a lot that it's in the mountains, we are escaping the heat from the sea side :) We start our journey with our 1st stop at Aliartos, to get in the mood of camping. The next day we start heading to our home for about a week in Stromi.
Summer is finally here in Greece and our house is full of visitors getting away from Athens for their vacation, so we are getting away from home to have our own vacation too!
Aside from the long list of things you can do inside the airport, they also offer Free Singapore Tours: Jewel, City sights and Heritage tours. With these, they are able to showcase the country and show what it has to offer. This is a very good teaser and maybe this can also entice transiting passengers that maybe next time, they come not only for a layover but for more days of exploration as well.
Most of our road trips and adventures are in Greece because this is where we live and there are just lots of places we haven't visited and explored yet. But this time, we are going to try and get a glimpse of Kyrie's country, the Philippines!
Arachova is a mountain village that is located in the foot of Mt. Parnassos. This is a favorite winter destination for celebrities, ski and snow board lovers in Greece or if you just want to have a dreamy "traditional" village atmosphere with amazing restaurants and bars to pair it with.
We are so stoked to have already started our adventures this year, hooray!
It was rainy right before and after the new year so we patiently waited and once the weather cleared up, we were ready to be on the road again. The photos above is what we were seeing throughout the trip, it's our "movie" for hours of driving to the snowy mountains.
Looking back on our experiences in 2019. Closing the past decade full of experiences, and we are looking forward to more adventures and more of life.
