A quick summary of our Scandinavian trip, we spent one week in Sweden for Christmas and 20 days in Norway for New Year until mid January. In Stockholm, we were going around the sites, but also balancing and making sure that we will be in our hosts at certain times and places because we were Couchsurfing. We used Trusted House Sitters (THS) in Norway. THS lets you stay for free* in homes around the globe. All you need to do is take care and be a companion to their lovely pets and you have free accommodation in your choice of location! You can sign up here to get a 25% off of the annual fee. There is a one year membership and give you access to unlimited house sits everywhere!) You will need to contact your hosts in THS earlier than you will arrive to make arrangements. When all that is settled, you just have to wait when it is time to go! We arranged the Norway trip first then we decided to also visit Stockholm. There are lots of things to see in Stockholm, one of the most amazing is their metro stations. Before heading to Norway, we saw a newspaper headline that Oslo is going to experience a harsh winter reaching -30 degrees! We didn’t pay attention to that news and went on excitedly to Norway! Bright and early the next day, we were able to see how beautiful it is where we were. It’s like a scene in a movie! We see sunrise and sunset almost everyday, despite the weather forecast, the bad weather were just a couple of days spread throughout our stay there. Our daily routine is to just spend time with their beautiful dogs, play with them, walk them and feed them twice a day, which we enjoyed so much. We definitely recommend Trusted House Sitters (THS) and we are going to do more trips using their platform :)
We always have big walks with Kiros and Chufos. Their favorite activity is eating ice cream (snow) and having snowball fights with us! We had the time to just sit back, relax and enjoy this place. This lead us to realize and reflect on what we really want to do. While here, we were able to plan and book our next travels and we were also able to look into our goals for 2019. We are travelling and enjoying life while we have the energy to do it, but we also thought that while living the now makes a lot of sense and is good, we also have to think about what we want to achieve and where we want to be. Being in a serene place not only gives you peace of mind, but more importantly, clarity. Travel gives us a different perspective. You always keep a little something from every place you have been to, we encourage you to look at those little things and do not forget how they felt. Every person is like a coin bank, memories and experiences are the coins that fills us up. Everything happens for a reason, and every little thing that you pick up from places you have been, people you meet, experiences you had, remains. We hope you also had a good look through your 2018 and have great time making memories and experiences this 2019. :) 1/1/2019 Hey guys! We are back online after a quick holiday break :) We are in Sweden and Norway for the holidays but we want to share with you what we have here and why we do not miss gadgets so much :) Our goal for the holidays is Christmas in Sweden and New Year in Norway. We are doing it smart and cheap. If we can do it, everyone can do it too! In Sweden, we did Couchsurfing and stayed at some hostels from Hostelworld. For Norway, we put Trusted House Sitters to the test, we are house sitting for 21 days! This is actually like living in a movie! We spent 1 week in SwedenOne week in Stockholm, including Christmas And It Was Amazing! This is a very small sample of photos. You can wait much more at the final post and video. Walking on the small streets of old town, you can feel the Christmas spirit in the air especially because everywhere is covered by snow, a perfect white Christmas. The views are spectacular and it's like what I see only in magazines. Then we arrived in Norway for New Year! This is a no filter sunset shot! Everyday we are blessed to be able to see the sunrise and sunset. The sky has amazing colors especially in contrast with snow everywhere. Disclaimer: Sunrise around 9:20 and sunset around 15:30 :) Our program in Oslo is to wake up a bit before sunrise, walk the dogs and explore the are a little bit, go on with our day -sightseeing, planning, etc., watch the sunset, do some other stuff , walk the dogs before dinner then we are full relaxed chilling at home, talking or watching Netflix! What we like the most is that we are not in the middle of the city. It is exactly like the location of our home in Greece -close enough to the city if you need something but far enough that you can be disconnected and be in your own winter wonderland. This is a walk we did for January first. According to the people around, it wasn't that cold (5 degrees Celsius) but it was for me! (I am very tropical!) Stay tuned!
